India’s men’s and women’s compound archery teams have both moved into the Asian Games semi-finals, giving the country two live routes to the podium on a busy Sunday in Aichi-Nagoya.
The men’s trio of Sahil Jadhav, Ganesh Mani Ratnam and Kushal Dalal defeated Bhutan 235-232 in the quarter-final. The women’s team of Chikitha Taniparthi, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Prithika Pradeep beat Kazakhstan 233-230. Both Indian teams now face South Korea in the semi-finals.
That next round changes the level of difficulty. South Korea has extraordinary depth in archery, so India will need to reproduce its qualification and knockout accuracy under significantly greater pressure. In compound competition, a single loose arrow can quickly erase the margin built over several ends.
The encouraging part for India is the spread of competitive depth. The campaign is not resting on one archer or one event. Strong results across men’s and women’s team formats create several opportunities for the country to convert a promising morning into medals.
