A remarkable scene at Jaipur’s Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple has turned into one of the country’s biggest viral festival stories. During the Sinjara celebrations, around 3,500 kilograms of mehendi were distributed to devotees in just three hours, according to The Indian Express.
The temple is closely associated with a popular belief that receiving mehendi from the shrine can bring blessings for marriage. That belief draws large numbers of unmarried devotees and families during Sinjara, a traditional celebration connected with the Teej festival.
This year, the turnout was so large that authorities reportedly began distribution ahead of schedule to manage the crowds. People travelled from outside Jaipur as well, including from cities such as Delhi and Chandigarh, underlining how widely the temple’s marriage-related tradition is known.
The 3,500-kg figure captures the scale of the event better than almost anything else. Mehendi, usually a personal ritual item, became a mass symbol of faith, hope and tradition as thousands of packets moved through the temple complex in a matter of hours.
For many devotees, the attraction is not simply a guarantee of marriage but participation in a ritual that connects family expectation, cultural identity and religious devotion. That is why the event continues to draw crowds even in an era when many traditional beliefs coexist with modern lifestyles.
Online, the story has travelled because it combines everything that drives curiosity: an enormous crowd, a striking number, a famous temple and a belief tied to one of life’s biggest milestones.
