Lava Virat Curve 5G concept with curved display and mini rear notification screen

Lava’s newest phone is trying to bring flagship-style design ideas into a lower price bracket, with a curved front panel and a second display built into the rear camera area.

Lava has launched the Virat Curve 5G in India at ₹23,999, adding a curved AMOLED smartphone with an unusual mini rear display to its expanding Virat lineup. The phone is scheduled to go on sale through Flipkart from September 28.

The most distinctive feature is the second screen on the back. Positioned beside the camera module, the mini display can show information such as battery status, notifications, custom text and emojis without requiring the user to wake the main display. It is a small panel rather than a second full smartphone screen, but it gives the device an identity that is unusual in its price segment.

On the front, Lava uses a curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Current launch reporting lists a screen size of around 6.67 inches, giving the phone the visual style usually associated with more expensive Android devices. The curved design is paired with a vegan-leather-style finish on some variants.

Power comes from MediaTek’s Dimensity 7100 chipset. The launch model is offered with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while software runs on Android 16. Lava is also promoting its Vayu AI features as part of the software experience.

Battery capacity is 6,000mAh, with 45W charging support reported for the device. A battery of that size should be one of the Virat Curve’s strongest practical specifications, although real-world endurance will depend on brightness, 5G usage, gaming and how often the rear display is active.

The primary rear camera uses a 50-megapixel Sony sensor. Rather than packing the phone with several low-resolution auxiliary cameras, Lava appears to be concentrating attention on the main camera and the mini display surrounding the rear-camera area.

The official price is ₹23,999 for the 6GB + 128GB configuration. Launch coverage also points to an introductory effective price of ₹19,999 with eligible bank offers. Buyers should check the exact offer conditions at the time of purchase because bank-card discounts can be limited by card type, transaction mode and promotional period.

Sales are scheduled to begin on Flipkart on September 28 at 7 pm. The phone is being offered in multiple finishes, and Lava is clearly positioning it as a design-led alternative in a market dominated by Chinese smartphone brands.

The challenge is competition. Around the ₹20,000–₹25,000 range, buyers can find phones with strong cameras, fast charging, high-refresh AMOLED screens and powerful mid-range processors. Lava’s differentiator is therefore not a single specification but the combination of curved design, large battery, clean Android positioning and the rear mini display.

Indian consumers have also shown renewed interest in domestic smartphone brands when products offer a clear reason to switch rather than relying on nationality alone. The Virat Curve 5G is an attempt to create that reason through visible hardware features.

For shoppers considering the phone, the key comparison points should be chipset performance, camera processing, update policy, service network and the real utility of the second screen. The headline ₹23,999 price puts the Virat Curve 5G in a competitive band, while the ₹19,999 launch offer could make the proposition more aggressive if buyers meet the discount conditions.
