Samsung’s Android 17-based software is moving from flagship launch feature to wider Galaxy rollout, with AI, device-care and productivity changes at the centre.

Samsung has begun the official rollout of One UI 9, moving its latest Android experience beyond the devices on which it first appeared and onto the Galaxy S26 series. For Galaxy users, the update is more than a visual refresh: Samsung is using it to expand Galaxy AI, simplify support tools and add new ways to manage everyday tasks.

The company says the rollout began on September 16 with the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, after One UI 9 debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8. Global availability is being expanded in stages, which means the exact date an individual phone receives the update can vary by country, carrier and model.

One of the headline additions is My FanCam. The feature can track a selected person in an existing video and automatically keep that subject centred as the scene moves. Samsung is pitching it as a faster way to create social-ready clips from performances, parties or sporting moments without manually reframing every shot.

Now Brief is also becoming more customisable. New generative and editable cards let users choose the information that appears in daily summaries, including health, weather and video. Warranty and Care moves support deeper into Settings so users can check coverage, run diagnostics, view repair estimates and manage service options without hunting through separate support pages.

Samsung has also added Now Nudge, which can surface context-aware suggestions without forcing the user to leave the current task. Creative Studio can suggest image-generation ideas around upcoming events, Interpreter gains a thread view for translated conversations, and Document Scan is designed to handle difficult material such as curved book pages and folded corners.

Galaxy owners in India should keep one caveat in mind: an eligible model does not guarantee an update on the same day as another market. Samsung stages firmware releases, and availability may depend on region or carrier. Users can check Settings > Software update, but there is little benefit in repeatedly forcing a download if the build has not been released for that device.

The bigger story is that Samsung is turning One UI into the delivery layer for its AI strategy. One UI 9 therefore matters not just as an Android 17 update, but as the point where more of Samsung’s intelligence, support and content-creation features begin reaching the wider Galaxy base.
