India Post’s Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II is currently open, but there is one detail candidates can easily miss: the registration deadline and the application deadline are not the same.
The two dates that matter most
- User registration closes: September 19, 2026 at 5:00 PM
- Application submission closes: September 21, 2026 at 5:00 PM
The official portal opened user registration on August 31 and application submission on September 2. Candidates who wait until September 21 without completing the required registration step could create an avoidable last-minute problem.
There is also a correction window
India Post has scheduled the edit/correction window for September 23 and September 24, both subject to the timings and conditions shown on the official GDS portal. Applicants should not treat the correction window as an extension of the application deadline.
Old registration numbers will not work
The Department of Posts has specifically told candidates applying under GDS Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026, to register afresh. Registration numbers created for previous schedules are not valid for this round.
What candidates should check before applying
The official portal provides the active notification, circle-wise posts, registration instructions, application instructions, fee instructions and edit/correction guidance. Before paying any fee or submitting details, candidates should cross-check the circle and post they are applying for and make sure their personal information matches the required documents.
Watch out for recruitment scams
India Post has also published a security warning asking candidates not to trust messages from suspicious or unauthorised email addresses. The department says official recruitment communication comes from addresses ending in @indiapost.gov.in or @indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
That warning is especially important during active recruitment windows, when fake offer letters, payment requests and unofficial “selection guarantee” messages can spread quickly.
The safest approach
Use the official India Post GDS portal directly, finish registration well before September 19, submit the application before September 21, and save copies of the confirmation pages. If a correction is needed, use the official September 23–24 window rather than relying on third-party claims.
